We demand the B-GAP be implemented now!

Today, our GetDecarb team is uniting forces with @wgc_climate as part of the Global Week of Action to make the GAP known, owned, and implemented inclusively.

At COP30, the Belém Gender Action Plan (GAP) was adopted: a 9-year framework to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in climate action. But adoption is only the beginning. It’s high time to implement it!

The GAP is not just a policy document - it is a tool of resistance to challenge oppressive power structures, authoritarian governments, or systemic injustice, and we need to use it as such.

109 women grassroots, activists, academics, traditional figures, college students, journalists, and government officials from village, city, to provincial levels gathered in Makassar, Ambon, and Yogyakarta, urging the Indonesian government to implement the Belem Gender Action Plan in policy and action, in an inclusive manner.

🌍💚 This project is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Government of Germany. Within the Federal Government, the IKI is anchored in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). Selected individual projects are also the responsibility of the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

There is no time to lose. We demand that governments push for progressive taxation at the current negotiations for the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation in New York from August 3 to 13.

Asian Women’s Day on August 8 falls right during the talks. We, women tax justice advocates, are pushing for progressive taxation. We demand that those with more wealth, higher income or business profits should pay proportionally more in taxes. This is only fair and just.

Regressive taxes hurt poor people and deepens inequality. Women suffer the most because they face lower pay, unpaid or low paying care work, and barriers to money and property. This unfair system must end. We must #RewriteTheRules for the #UNTaxConvention.
