Join the Webinar People’s Agenda for COP31

This session will unpack the key negotiations expected at COP31 and what they mean for peoples, particularly those from the global South. Among the major issues on the table that will be examined are climate finance, loss and damage, adaptation, just transition, trade, and Article 6. The session will examine how decisions in these areas can shape access to resources, development pathways, and control over territories, while exposing how militarism and war are obscured within climate negotiations. It will also serve as a space to discuss how movements and civil society can organise in and beyond COP31 to link these fights and advance the struggle for climate and social justice.

Perempuan komunitas (pesisir, pesisir perkotaan dan perkotaan) bukan penyumbang utama emisi, tetapi paling merasakan dampak perubahan iklim, mulai dari banjir rob, kenaikan muka laut, cuaca ekstrem, hingga kekeringan berkepanjangan yang memicu krisis air bersih dan gangguan kesehatan. Kondisi ini meningkatkan pengeluaran rumah tangga, memperpanjang waktu untuk mencari dan mengangkut air, mengurangi kesempatan mencari nafkah dan beristirahat, serta menambah beban kerja perawatan perempuan. Tekanan ekonomi dan sosial juga dapat meningkatkan kerentanan perempuan terhadap kekerasan dalam rumah tangga. Di tengah menurunnya pendapatan dan terganggunya mata pencaharian, perempuan harus terus berjuang memenuhi kebutuhan dasar keluarga tanpa dukungan pemerintah yang memadai.

Community women (in coastal, urban coastal, and urban areas) are not the main contributors to emissions, but they are the ones most severely affected by climate change, from tidal flooding, rising sea levels, and extreme weather to prolonged droughts that trigger clean water crises and health problems. These conditions increase household expenses, extend the time spent collecting and transporting water, reduce opportunities to earn a living and to rest, and also burden women’s care workload. Economic and social pressures can also increase women’s vulnerability to domestic violence. Amidst falling incomes and disrupted livelihoods, women must continue to struggle to meet their families’ basic needs without adequate government support.
